Nobody from California wins huge $640 million lottery jackpot

Nobody from the Golden State brought home the gold last Friday night.

Winners of the grand prize in the Mega Millions lottery were reported in Maryland, Kansas, and Illinois, but the dream of winning the $640 million jackpot in California faded away.

Many Fontana residents had joined in the nation-wide frenzy over the world's largest jackpot, only to be disappointed.? The odds of winning were 1 in 176 million.

The winning numbers were 2, 4, 23, 38, 46, and Mega Ball 23.

Last Tuesday, a lucky person won $308,473 by matching five of the six numbers in the Mega Millions drawing on a ticket purchased at the Unocal 76 Station and Food Mart on the corner of Citrus Avenue and Valley Boulevard in Fontana.
