National Cancer Study Looking For Committed Volunteers ? CBS St ...

ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-?The American Cancer Society is looking for hundreds of St. Louisians to take part in a big national cancer prevention study.

The study hopes to gain insight into more of the environmental and lifestyle factors that contribute to the disease.

Karen Conkey is with Party Lite ? the voluntary enrollment coordinator for the study, and says anyone, ages 30 to 65, who hasn?t had cancer can participate in it.

?It?s studying the environmental issues and physical issues around cancer to look for ways to really prevent the disease in the future,? Conkey says.

The study lasts between 20 to 30 years and involves up to 300,000 national participants, according to Conkey.

?Anyone who commits to it, really commits long-term to helping in this fight,? she says.

Enrollment is all day Wednesday and Thursday at the America?s Center Convention Complex, second floor ballroom.
